KUMASI STADIUM IS 82 % COMPLETE FOR CAN 2008

I recently paid a visit to the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi to aquaint myself with the progress of reconstruction works at the stadium. The stadium is one of the four venues to host next years Africa Cup of Nations (CAN 2008). The contractors working on the project, Consar Limited told me that work is 82 percent complete. The project started in May 2006 and the contractors are to handover by October 31st.
I was impressed with the progress of work. The green grass is ready. the contractors are yet to install the spectator seats but the plastic chairs have arrived at the project site.
Work on the roof at the VIP stand is in progress.
The floor to host the tartan tracks is being prepared
Below is an artist impression of how the stadium would like when completed.

Picture show Mr Simon Compaore (left), Mayor of Ouagadougou in a handshake and exchanging documents with Ms Patricia Appiagyei, KMA Chief Executive. This was after the two of them have appended their signatures to the protocol agreement to implement a partnership between the cities of Kumasi and Ouagadougou.
